Violet Craft Class with the Ventura Modern Quilt Guild

For several months now I’ve been looking forward to Ventura Modern Quilt Guild’s class with Violet Craft. The class was a blast and it made the day even better being around so many great people. Violet gave everyone individual instruction related to the pattern that they were working on. She certainly shone brightly as a teacher and I’m sure that the rest of her students would agree. It’s always fun to learn a new technique. I’ve been paper piecing for close to 20 years and I’ve learned something new. Her trunk show is Monday October 8, and the house will be packed at the Ventura Modern Quilt Guild meeting.

Saturday Class with Jen Carlton Bailly

One of the best things about belonging to a quilt guild is the speakers that we get a chance to see and maybe even take a workshop from. Last Saturday, Jen Carlton Bailly (aka, bettycrockerass) taught a workshop thanks to Ventura Modern Quilt Guild. We also got the opportunity to see the trunk show on Monday night. Jen’s quilts and her techniques are very creative and inspiring.

Jacquie Gering—Slice and Insert Improvisation Class

I’m still recovering from the weekend. Sunday I was overcome with creativity at Jacquie Gering’s class. Superbuzzy in Ventura, CA hosted Jacquie’s class and it turned into the perfect day. She demonstrated several different ways to do slice and insert. She had many sample quilts with her and I tried not to drool. We had 16 students in the class and the best classroom you can imagine. My first try didn’t seem to be my best work and now I’ve tried some different colors and I’ll post a picture of that work soon.
