Confessions of a fabric hoarder

Road to California 2017

A break in the current storms made for the most beautiful Southern California day. Mother nature has given us a nourishing drink of water and the sun is out. It’s a great day for a quilt show and off to Road to California we go. There were some outstanding quilts at the show and its always well organized. I was a little disappointed by the number of quilts. There were numerous challenges and exhibits and the vendors I look forward to seeing each year. Somehow I didn’t purchase a single cut of fabric. I did purchase lots of tread for many upcoming projects.

Simi Valley Quilt Show 2016

Never a dull moment around here… Simi Valley Quilt Guild held their Biennial quilt show on Sunday. “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow…Not Just Your Grandmother’s Quilts” was the theme of the show. It was a fun show and I enjoyed seeing quilts done by some of my friends. I bought 3 vintage quilt tops in their guild’s boutique. I don’t really know why…I have enough of my own unfinished projects!

The Simi Valley Quilt Guild invited Ventura Modern Quilt Guild to display modern quilts at their show. I volunteered 6 of my quilts for the modern exhibit.

Harvest of Colors

On Saturday, Greg and I headed up to Santa Barbara for the Coastal Quilters Annual Quilt Show. The drive from Los Angeles was a little grueling, but we made it there and the weather was beautiful. The quilts on display were an inspiring mix of traditional and modern quilts. The show layout was well planned and the guests all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I saw some fabulous quilts and even bought myself a new pair of scissors. I haven’t tried Kai scissors before and I thought it was time to give ’em a go and see if I like them. I’ll report back soon…
