This Zentangle thing is too addictive. Since I can’t sit still and always have the need to feel productive, why not Zentangle? I posted earlier my first ‘tangle’ and several more have followed. Now what to do with these little works of art. When in doubt, make a tote bag. I kept it simple with solid grid lines and chose black as the background color to showcase my designs. I really like how it turned out. Can we ever have too many bags?

At the Show I taught ‘Dresden Garden’ and ‘Curvaceous Curves.’ I love to teach and share my knowledge with my fellow quilters. The classes went great. We laughed until we needed to pee …. and yes, there was teaching and the students accomplished a lot on their new quilts.

Show Committee _1 BEST edited (1)

A very long weekend has come to a close.  The show was a great success.  I chaired the Opportunity Quilts from other guilds.  I recruited 8 local guilds to bring their opportunity quilts and have them on display in the entrance lobby to the quilt show.  The quilts were awesome and I made some new friends.  Not to mention getting to see some ‘old’ friends along the way.  This is the ‘pre-show’ committee pic…I’m way in the back on the left side.  Cheers!

It’s Greg, again. I went to the Glendale Quilt Guild Show yesterday with my friend Nancy. Griff was teaching and we did invade his classroom a couple of times. Nancy had a quilt entered in the show and I had to share it with you. She’s such an awesome quilter (and, an incredible friend!) This was the “anniversary” show for us…it was the first quilt show we went to together many years ago…neither one of us can remember just how long it’s been! She’s taught me a lot over the years…thanks for a wonderful day of inspiration, food, and fun! Griff should be back soon, now that his classes are done. Take care and enjoy your week!

It’s the other half of the fabric hoarders, Greg. We’ve been prepping Griff for his classes this weekend, and a very special day happened…our 8-year anniversary! I just wanted to wish an incredibly talented man happy anniversary and say I’m looking forward to many more years together full of laughs and love!

Just before this last Christmas my best friend, Walter, sent me a care package from Maryland. Lots of quilting magazines and an amaryllis bulb in a stunning dutch pot. Let me state for the record that I consider myself to have a green thumb. I planted the bulb per the instructions. I found a great place for the bulb in my kitchen window, lots of light. Weeks go by and the only thing happening is a terrible smell and tiny little gnats coming from the soil. The cats were more amuzed by the gnats than I was. After about a month I had all but given up and replanted it in another pot and moved it outside…more space for the gnats. Out of sight, out of mind. At that point, I was wondering whether or not I could even get a Chia Pet to grow. Two months went by before there was any signs of life. Low and behold my blackend thumb is green again. I love my Walter.

A new day….a new project! I signed up to take a class at one of the quilt guilds I belong to. It’s Zentangle and I thought it looked pretty cool. I’m anxious to see how well it will transfer to fabric. Since my attention span is poor and I can’t sit still very long…this is perfect. While on an outing to Joann, I found the book. Of course I had my coupons with me. Here’s my first attempt at Zentangling. Not too sure what do to with it but very pleased with how it looks. Watch out Amy Butler!

Some days you just feel like you could use a little ‘pick me up’ and today was one of those days for me. I knew exactly what I needed…a trip to the fabric store. After all cotton is my drug of choice. I immediately found fabrics that were dying for a new home. They all but jumped into my open arms. So now I’m faced with the decision to add them to my fabric hoard or start a new project. Hmmmm! Browsing the web last week I came across the cutest site. While being inspired I found this lunch bag tutorial and I loved it. Ayumi at Pink Penguin is very talented and she has an awesome site. Be sure to check it out.

I posted earlier that when a teach a class I make my students a pincushion as a gift. I usually try to keep the theme of the pincushion related to the class. Sometimes this is easier said than done. These are the pincushions for Dresden Garden class I will be teaching at the Glendale Quilt Show. I’ve finished 11 so far and will be working on more today.
