Confessions of a fabric hoarder

Everybody knows that paper piecing isn’t one of my favorite things. That being said, I do appreciate the precision that paper piecing offers. I ran across this pattern on a Pinterest marathon and it really caught my eye. The original was a ruby in various shades of red. Going through my stash I realized that a trip to the quilt store was necessary. The pattern was very well written and it took less than an hour to make the block. I’m going to enlarge the Gemstone paper-pieced pattern from 3rd Story Workshop and make it again in a larger size. This block finishes at 12 inches and I’m not sure what to do with the block now that it is done…oh well, on to the next project.

Beautiful! Next time, try freezer paper — no ripping involved.

  2. Enlarging it sounds like a great idea. How big do you plan to make it next?

    1. I’m thinking about enlarging it 300% and it will be a nice wall hanging.
