Kept In Stitches

Confessions of a fabric hoarder

This month’s challenge with the Ventura Modern Quilt Guild is a red, white and blue challenge.  Since I love English Paper Piecing I thought it would be fun to make a mini for this challenge.  The quilt is supposed to reflect the modern asthetic so I decided to use solids.  I really don’t think there is anything ‘modern’ about this quilt….but I like it.  I’m a little old school in the theory that anything hand pieced should be hand quilted.  It is due tonight and the hand quilting is yet to be completed.  I’m still stitching away and the end is in sight.Image

Hi, I am looking to start hand quilting all the how to video’s show them using the hexagons. Would you be able to advise if these are the easiest to start with? I was thinking that it might be easier to start with squares as it would be easier to make sure that they are accurate in size?
Any advice and help would be really appreciated

    1. Good morning, I just love hand quilting. It’s one of those things…’practice makes perfect’ …I would suggest a small project and concentrate on small and equal stitches. My first project was a table runner. I think the blocks were ‘9 patch’ and it was a lot of fun, yet small enough that I saw results without getting discouraged.
